UK Day 9: 16 Miles

Glasgow, Scotland to Callander, Scotland

Today was just a wee ride. Only 16 miles from Stirling to Callander. From my experience it can often be difficult to get out of a large city on a bicycle. Given my hotel was right next to the train I decided to go 1 stop from Glasgow to Stirling before beginning my route.

I started on a busy A road but quickly found an alternative route on a B road which was much quieter. The landscape has opened up in Scotland, with bigger views and some hills on the horizon. It was a short but pleasant ride and I arrived in Callander right around 1:00 p.m.

I couldn’t check into my hotel until 3:00 but found a busy bakery where I grabbed a steak pie and a rhubarb tart. The hotel was right across the street and I posted up at the bar and watched some soccer until I could get into the room. I’ll be riding on national cycling route 7 the rest of the way to Inverness. It should be a really nice few days of riding. I got a few pointers on the route from a local cyclist while I was eating my pastries which should be helpful as well.
