UK Day 14: 7 Miles

London, England

I got a great night of sleep on the train last night. I was worried I’d get to London feeling like I had taken a red-eye, but I was well rested and ready to start the day when the train arrived at 8:00 a.m.

I decided to start the day with an early morning bike ride through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens with a stop at Kensington Palace. I then headed to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guard. I’m glad I got there early. I was able to lean my bike right up against the fence surrounding the palace. It was a long wait before things started happening, but the payoff was a changing of the guard to the soundtrack of ABBA as played by the military band.

After the changing of the guard I headed to my hotel where I was able to drop off my bike and bags. I then went to the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery which were right around the corner.

I made a quick stop in Trafalgar square to listen to some buskers and wait out the 30 minutes until I’d be able to check into the hotel. Once I was finally showered and wearing fresh clothes I headed back out in search of food, before heading to the theater to see Cynthia Erivo in Dracula.
