Inverness, Scotland to London, England
No more cycling on this trip, so I enjoyed a day off in Inverness. I had a tour of Loch Ness scheduled to leave at 9:15 a.m., so I grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to the meeting point.
I stayed at the Black Isle Bar last night, and this morning they were able to store my bags for the day. My train to London doesn’t leave until 8:00 p.m., so it was nice to have somewhere to leave my bike and luggage while I explored.

The tour began with a short drive from downtown Inverness to the boat launch. The original plan was for the boat to drop us off at Urquhart Castle, where a bus would pick up the group afterward. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the road between the castle and Inverness, which prevented the tour bus from reaching us. Instead of visiting the castle, we ended up staying on the boat for the full round trip. Even so, it was still an enjoyable tour, and it was nice to experience the scenery from a different perspective than my bicycle.

I got back to Inverness around 1:00 and grabbed a quick lunch before taking a walk along the River Ness and across Ness Islands. It had been drizzling all day, but the rain eventually picked up, so I found a seat at the Uile-bheist Distillery & Brewery.
I made it back to the center of Inverness and walked around the shops before making my way back to Black Isle Bar for dinner. After dinner a got my bike and bags together and made my way to the train station where I boarded the Caledonian Sleeper train for my overnight journey to London on the train.

What a wonderful trip, Dan. I’ve enjoyed the photos and all of your commentaries. I’m sure your 2 days in London will be an interesting change from rural small towns to the city. Enjoy it all!
