UK Day 11: 14 Miles

Aberfeldy, Scotland to Aviemore, Scotland

Just a short 14 mile ride today. My end point of Aviemore was 75 miles from Aberfeldy and I knew I’d break the trip up with a train ride at some point. There were a few options, but I ultimately opted for the closest in Pitlochry.

The 14 miles were along national cycling route 7 which has been well signed and easy to ride throughout the last few days. There were a few steep climbs at 12+% grade but it was an otherwise easy ride.

As I entered Pitlochry I spotted a nice looking breakfast spot and decided to stop for a latte and some food. I had not yet tried haggis or black pudding in Scotland and decided this was my chance. I enjoyed the haggis, but the black pudding was not my favorite.

After breakfast I rode down to the dam and fish ladders to look around. I was able to see the 180th Salmon of the season pass though the ladders on the live feed.

There were a few shops in town and I decided to poke around for a bit before catching the 1:40 PM train to Aviemore. It was a low key riding day, but really enjoyable to just spend the morning exploring a new town.
