UK Day 15: 0 Miles

London, England

For my final day in London, I tried to check off most of the tourist attractions on my list. It was a busy day, but I managed to see a lot. A great way to cap off this UK trip.

I started the day with a 10:00 tour of Westminster Abbey. The self-guided audio tour was actually very well done and provided plenty of detail about everything I was seeing. For an extra £5, I opted to visit the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries, which offered a unique view of the entire cathedral from high up in the rafters.

From Westminster Abbey, I followed the Queen’s Walk along the River Thames, with views of Big Ben, London Eye, and Shakespeare’s Globe. I continued on to Borough Market, a massive outdoor food market with some excellent options. I went with a roasted pork sandwich from The Black Pig and a slice of chocolate babka from a Jewish bakery stand.

Next, I walked past The Shard and crossed Tower Bridge to reach my final major tourist stop of the day: Tower of London. I spent almost three hours there, starting with a history tour led by a Yeoman Warder, followed by a visit to see the Crown Jewels and a walk through the White Tower.

After reaching my limit on tourist attractions, I crossed back over Tower Bridge and headed to the Bermondsey Beer Mile, a mile long stretch of breweries and taprooms where I grabbed a few drinks before taking the subway back to Covent Garden for my final dinner of the trip.
